Welcome to our community!

The library has a variety of free services available to you and we are always here to answer questions and help you navigate things. You can read below about all we have to offer, and you can call, email, or stop in anytime to ask for help.

How your library card works:

  • Your account number is located on the barcode of your library card
  • Your PIN is automatically set to the last 4 digits of your phone number unless you ask us to make it something else
  • If you can’t remember your PIN or you can’t find your library card let us know, we can tell you what your account # and PIN are or we can issue a new card
  • You do not need to have your card with you to check things out, but be prepared to confirm your information for us if you don’t

Fines, Fees, & Blocks:

Overdue Fines: We are a fine free library and will not charge you for overdue items!

Lost Item Fees: If you keep an item so long that it goes to lost the cost of the item will be billed to your account, but if you bring the item back the bill will be removed.

Blocked Account: If you owe $10.00 or more your account will be blocked, preventing you from checking out any more items, but you only have to get the bill below $10.00 and your account will be unblocked.

Circulation:

  • You can check out up to 40 items at a time, but no more than 5 Audiobooks and/or 5 DVDs at one time
  • Books, Large Type, and Audiobooks all check out for 21 days and will automatically renew twice, unless someone else is waiting for them
  • New books, New Large Type, and New Audiobooks check out for 14 days and only renew once. All items stay New for 3 months
  • DVDs, Tv show, New TV shows, and Magazines check out for 7 days
  • New DVDs check out or 3 days

Mid York System:

  • You can use your library card at any library in the Midyork system, which encompasses Madison, Herkimer, and Oneida Counties
  • You can place holds on items from other Mid York libraries and have them delivered here for you to pick up
  • Items can be returned to any midyork library regardless of where you checked it out
  • You can access your account online at Midyork.org using your account number and PIN. Once logged in you can place holds on items and check the status of items you have checked out or on hold

Services we offer:

We are here to help! If you can’t find an item in the Mid York System we will see if we can get from a library outside the system. If you’re not sure what to read next, we can offer you suggestions. If you can’t remember the title of a book you want to read we can help you figure it out!
We can also help with Local History questions, printing tax forms, booking our Community Room for an event, and more. Please don’t hesitate to ask us for help.

Digital Content:

  • Get Ebooks and Eaudio books free on Libby with your library card. Download the Libby app from your app store and use your account number and PIN to log in. Call us or stop by if you have any trouble and we can help
  • Access the online archives of the Utica Observer-Dispatch with your Hamilton library card
  • Visit our Electronic Resources page to see what else we have to offer

We have computers and WiFi available for anyone to use, and charging stations for phones. While we are not technology experts we will do our best to help in any way we can. If you don’t have a printer at home or you run out of ink, we can help!
