Are you looking for a safe, socially distant and contactless way to celebrate Halloween with your family? Whether or not there is trick-or-treating, you may still be reluctant to head out and brave crowded sidewalks, so how about you pick a time to walk around between now and 3 p.m. on Halloween for a village-wide scavenger hunt and earn yourself a sweet treat prize? This event is free and open to all who wish to participate. Costumes are optional but… come on, it’s Halloween!
All you have to do is start out at the Colgate University Bookstore and find the first poster. Using your smartphone, scan the QR code on the poster to answer a clue leading to the next location! Work your way through 12 more posters (13 in total) displayed at local businesses around the village, then stop at the last location to collect your prize!
We would love to thank the 11 other businesses partnering with us and the Bookstore, but then that wouldn’t make it much of a scavenger hunt, would it? Hopefully I remember to thank them in next week’s column.
Keep an eye on the weather and be sure to get your prize before the library closes – I mean the last location closes – at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Happy hunting!
Have a spooky and safe Halloween!
