If you read our column regularly, you may remember last week’s announcement of the retirement of one of our Library Clerks, Joan Prindle. Well, from the title of this week’s column and through the power of deduction you may have realized what’s next: Someone new!
Right now, we don’t know who that new person is that will be joining us for $13.20/hour for up to 19 hours/week, but hopefully another column in the very near future will share that news!
If you or anyone you know would like to work here at the library handling the multitude of duties too numerous to mention in this 350-word blurb, please send a resume, cover letter, and three professional references to hpljobs@midyork.org ASAP! Or you can just contact me using the below information to ask directly. We are keeping this position open until filled.
What’s this? I still have words left? Okay! Well here’s what we’re looking for: Someone who excels at customer service, is knowledgeable of library resources, and supports the mission and vision of the Hamilton Public Library. Their role would be to assist patrons in accessing and appropriately using library spaces and resources effectively and equitably within the parameters of established library procedures and policies. Duties include but are not limited to: providing individual attention and assistance to meet the needs and abilities of patrons; proper circulation of library materials along with related record keeping and procedures; creating and maintaining patron accounts; performing opening and closing procedures; general upkeep of library collections, materials, and spaces; and other duties as assigned!
Applicants must have a willingness to learn, ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, a working knowledge of computers, attention to detail, and as mentioned above, have excellent customer service!
Thank you so much for reading, and we hope to work with you soon!
