What a month! We’ve been open on a limited capacity for a few weeks now, and checkouts are increasing steadily. Many patrons are continuing to receive their items through curbside pickup, and a few are using our free contactless delivery! For more information on those services, please check our website.
So that’s our collection, but remember when the library used to also function as a community center and offer events to the public? With Covid restrictions and all-around scariness, this has been difficult to achieve, but this month we are dipping our toes into the outdoor, restricted events water!
We have a few events lined up, so please check our social media pages and website for more information. I would love to be specific about times, but as this was only approved as of a few hours ago, we’re still firming up details with vendors, but you can tentatively expect: A public outdoor movie screening on August 31, a magic show with Leon Etienne on August 29, and Kids’ yoga on August 24! We have also resumed in-person tech help and tutoring, if you would like to make an appointment please let us know.
Obviously these are not normal events, and will be subject to New York’s social distancing guidelines. First, we are prohibited from allowing in more than 50 people at this event. To get tickets, visit our website! Tickets will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. This is a bring-your-own-chair/snacks event. Attendees will be required to wear masks when social distancing is not possible. There is a port-a-potty in the parking lot, and a hand sanitizer station will be made available. Guests are required to stay six feet apart from anyone outside their family unit.
Finally, MidYork has resumed normal delivery and holds can be placed on any item system-wide.
We are delighted to get this much closer to returning to normal, please contact me if you have any questions at all. Thank you for reading and for wearing your face coverings!
