StoryWalk on Chenango Canal Towpath

First, let’s just get the reminder to buy a raffle ticket right out of the way. This is your LAST CHANCE to purchase a winning ticket, as the drawing is on May 1. Tickets can be purchased right in the library for $1 each,  $5 for six, or $10 for 15. If you’re reading this before May 1st, what are you waiting for? The next time you hear about this it will be to announce the winner – make sure it’s you! Proceeds go to benefit the Friends of the Library.

Okay, on to business. This week we’re highlighting a new StoryWalk on the Chenango Canal Towpath Trail! Take a walk with your family and follow the numbered signs along the trail to enjoy a story about a tree that needs your help to grow! The walk begins at the Montgomery Street trailhead, next to the gas station. When you’re finished, scan the QR code and fill out the form, or stop in the library to let us know what you thought of the activity! This also helps us keep statistics on how many people participated.

The StoryWalk Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT, and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition (VBPC) and the Kellogg Hubbard Library. Our StoryWalk will be on display through May 31, weather permitting.

There is also still time for students to submit silly MadLib story (for grades K-6) or poster (for grades 7-12) on what makes them happy. Stories and posters will be voted on to see which is the most creative. Stop in for forms! This activity is being done alongside the Hamilton Area Community Coalition for Alcohol Awareness Month. Please return your submissions by May 7th here at the library.

That’s it for now, thank you for reading and get vaccinated if you are able!
